A cold and wet trend persisted statewide through the month of April, impacting planting progress and delaying plant growth. Parts of Northern Idaho recorded only 3 days with high temperatures beyond 60 degrees, while precipitation came in line with 10-year averages. Significant April precipitation in the Pocatello area improved yearly precipitation totals to just over 1” behind long term averages. According to NASS reports, statewide subsoil improved to rate 60 percent adequate and 34 percent short.
