Idaho Wheat Commission Increases Assessment by 1 cent

Idaho Wheat Commission board members have unanimously approved a wheat assessment increase from 3.5 cents to 4.5 cents per bushel beginning July 1. The 1 cent increase will generate approximately $900,000 more per year.
"We have all just seen an incredible hike in basic operating costs — research costs more, market development costs more, all of those things we as a commission are tasked with doing by the growers are costing more," Britany Hurst Marchant, executive director, told the Capital Press. "Unfortunately, dollars just don't go as far as they used to, even just two years ago."
