Justin Place was born and raised north of Idaho Falls in Hamer. His dad broke ground where he now farms and his childhood was spent picking rocks and hauling sagebrush off the land. Justin and his wife, Tara, now own and operate Place Farms, where they primarily grow wheat, barley, alfalfa, and mustard under irrigation pivots.

Justin is a certified electrical technician and studied farm business management at Idaho State University. Before his appointment by Governor Little to represent Idaho wheat farming families in District 4 he served on the Idaho Grain Producer's Association Board of Directors and Executive Board. He completed his term as IGPA President in 2025. Justin was also a board member of the National Barley Growers Association. He and Tara have four sons.

District 4

District 4 takes in the majority of Eastern Idaho and hosts approximately 1.75 million acres of total farmland.
