On February 28, 2020, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers released a draft environmental impact statement (EIS) regarding the Columbia-Snake River System. On March 6, the respective organizations representing grain growers in Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington issued the following joint statement in support of the river system, which allows for fish recovery, clean and renewable hydroelectric power and environmentally-friendly barging of more than 500 million bushels of wheat each year. The full statement is below. Growers, elevators and other grain industry partners are encouraged to submit comments by April 13 in support of the draft EIS. Here are some guidelines from the Pacific Northwest Waterways Association.
