Pacific Northwest Marketing Tour

The Idaho Wheat Commission has conducted a Pacific Northwest Wheat Marketing Tour for nearly 20 years to educate Idaho wheat farmers about where their wheat goes after leaving the farm.

Each year the IWC sponsors 10 wheat growers (selected by their commissioner), in Portland, Oregon. The three-day event allows Idaho wheat growers to learn about the U.S.inspection services, grain shipments, analytical testing, product development and domestic and international uses for their wheat.

The tour is an excellent forum for leaders in Idaho’s wheat industry to gain a greater understanding of Pacific Northwest wheat marketing.

Idaho Annual Crop Production
Winter wheat acres planted in Idaho are estimated at 760,000 acres, down 20,000 acres from last year. Harvested area is forecast at 720,000 acres, down 1 percent from 2014.

Idaho spring wheat planted acres increased from 480,000 acres in 2014 to 570,000 acres in 2015.

All Wheat stored in all positions on June 1, 2015 totaled 18.5 million bushels in Idaho, up from 13.4 million bushels a year ago. Off-farm stocks were up 9 percent, while on-farm stocks were up 243 percent compared to the previous year.
