South Idaho Direct Seed Workshop

Direct seeding continues to make headway in the southern part of the State. The Direct Seed Workshop held each year in March helps address local issues and concerns.

Past topics have included fertility management in direct seeded grain, value of residue, equipment information and pest control options. A highlight each year is growers sharing their on-farm experiences with direct seed – what had worked in their operations and, equally valuable, what they changed over the years.

Idaho Crop Residue Burning Program

The crop residue burning (CRB) program is designed to enable growers to burn under certain conditions while protecting public health from smoke impacts. The program is managed by DEQ on lands other than the five Indian Reservations in Idaho.
Idaho Department of Environmental Quality works to ensure clean air, water, and land in the state and protect Idaho citizens from the adverse health impacts of pollution.  Growers must have completed DEQ training in proper burning techniques and good smoke management within the past five years.
